About- See also Production Work Resume Link above.
Hi. I Laura Ann Tull am many things, though here you will find my film making, photography and digital art work. I have completed a certificate in Digital Media at Santa Monica College and I completed most of the course work for a certificate in film production, with the exception of Film 33 and Film 33L.
I started shooting photography at McDaniel College with a black and white Nikon, and continued training in Graduate School at American University, but moved into digital in 2007 at Santa Monica. I had cancer in 2005 and I will not be going back to using film. My photography teacher in college, Susan Bloom was into experimental art photography and allowed her students to experiment. She actually also has moved into the digital age and you can find her books on Digital Painting in Photoshop at Amazon. I graduated from college with a degree in Theater Arts, specializing in Modern Drama and realism, and an Business Economics Degree. (I am a Robert Reich fan.)
In college I also worked for Richard Dillman, now retired, for the Communication Department at the school for free as an Operations Manager for their film equipment office. The position allowed me to have access to their graphic computer so I could teach myself graphic art on a professional level Mac back in the 1990s. I also would work with other students who were working on film projects and learned old school video editing.
I have a Masters in Performing Arts Management from American University with concentrations in CASTING, TV Film Acting, Marketing and Critical Theory. I actually interned for the school organizing students as a casting agent for various jobs, including a birthday party of Larry King and helped at an Open call searching for an actor to play Robin (as in Batman). A photo of mine was published and I had an image win an award in a show. I am rather introverted and not the kind of person who is detail oriented. I am a creative and a value based person.
I now shoot with a Canon 20D. Samples of my images can be found on the link to Deviant Art above. I spent a year taking pictures for Demotix, a citizen journalist website based out of the UK, and even received an email from my editor contact, Wais Bashir, that I was one of their best reporters. To my surprise my images had been seen by over 10,000 people. The site was sold and I hold the rights to all images as I never received payment for any of them. In fact if the new owners are still trying to sell any of those images or have made money off of them, they owe me restitution.
I have trained in Avid, Final Cut, Premiere Pro, Photo Shop, Illustrator, Light Room, After Effects, and Pro Tools. I have used Final Draft, and Celtx. My GPA at Santa Monica College was a 3.6. I am in the following academic honor societies: Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Psi Omega, Omicron Delta Epsilon, and Pi Gamma Mu. I was a Maryland Distinguished Scholar, gifted in Social Studies.
My goal is to work in the entertainment industry in Editing, Art Direction, Directing, Script writing, set photography, and acting. Basically where my passion and life takes me. I have my own script and story ideas I am working on. I could also be open to working with the Theatrical community here in Los Angeles, but in a film making editing writing capacity. I write film scripts and have never actually written anything for theater. I have in the past written theatrical reviews for Examiner.com, Yo Venice, Arts Beat LA, NOHO Arts District, and I have been listed in BeterLemons.com.
Over all I have a need to act and a need to be creative and to be a part of good stories and work that promotes organic positive change. I have 15 years of experience being in and around the film industry and art world here in Los Angeles in addition to my experience in the class room and life.
In addition to all the above, I am also a POET and I have read my poetry at the Down Town Art Walk, Beyond Baroque and at the Electric Lodge in Venice. I worked for Court TV for a year in law school. The Kennedy Center in their Legal Department. Round House Theater for their children’s camp and marketing and administrative offices, and showed movie trailers in malls for Anchor Network. (I am not licensed to practice Law as I resigned from the California Bar). Please see the other links above for my other work and look me up on IMDB. THANK YOU.
